Default The need for new repeatable -non grinding- content

I was thinking about new ways to give players something to do, challenging but not grinding.

Idea n1: Boss Hunt NPC
---------------------------------------------------------------------
at fixed hours -ex once every 3 hours- a new NPC in lion's arch calls the hunt for a random boss in whole tyria, and the first character killing that given boss and coming back gets a reward, may it be gold, a point towards a title -gamer anyone?-, a gemstone u can use to craft a weapon from a new set of skins, or any mix of the above.

Simulation of how this work: NPC in lion's arch shouts "Bring me the head of Ferk Mallet" from this moment on Ferk Mallet drops a new item "The head of Ferk Mallet"---> ppl run to ring of fire (or to guildwiki looking for Ferk Mallet.) enter the mission and kill him. He drops The "head of Ferk Mallet" customized item ---> take back that to the npc. the first 3-5 people completing it get bigger rewards, but anyone completing in time (say it 30 minutes) gets something. -1 gemstone 1title point each, a lot more for winner(s)-
Should the NPC call the same boss few hours/days later, the new heads are tagged in a different way so ppl cannot use old ones to get the reward avoiding to kill the boss again.

additional content simulation: the same NPC in lion's arch gives people a big book -dungeon master guide style- with many entries to register that u killed a given boss.
NPC shouts the hunt as always, from this moment only u're credited the kill of the given boss on the book, if u kill before or after the hunt is active u get nothing on your book.
Once the book is completed -and completed means a huge amount of time- u get some bigger reward, even if u havent been the first killing any boss in the hunt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

pro of these = not for farmers, not for botters, for ppl who play the game, should be relativly easy to code, rewards both hardcore players (complete the book takes ages specialy if the NPC calls for random bosses without any given order) and casual players (1 hunt can be completed in few minutes)...

thoughts? hopefully it's clear enough

love it

At first i thought it was for the elite only but if you have 30mins to get something out of it its great for any player, plus it does reward those that do it quickest

Sounds kind of like the scavenger hunt for items people gathered and ended up helping each other with for that celestial pig festival thing they had in Cantha. I like that idea.

I also like how it puts explorable areas back into a new use.

The tasks to do to get the Moa minipet is kind of like this. You can always do that.

nice idea. I'd definitely like to see something like that, but make the higher rewards for the less time taken to complete it, not the number of people. ie. highest reward for completing within 15 mins (taking into consideration random spawning and bosses in places like Mineral Springs and such), second class reward for anything between 15-30 mins, third class reward for anything between 30-60 mins.

Having it as a set number of people could cause conflict with people joining parties to get it done as some may get the highest reward and others may get a secondary reward despite having completed the challenge at the same time.

also, not to exclude other campaigns, having at a 3 hours interval would be perfect, enabling it to be staggered between campaigns. Hour 1, a call for a Tyrian boss from LA. Hour 2, a call for a Canthan boss from Kaineng. Hour 3, a call for an Elonian boss from Kamadan.

Alternatively this could be used to liven up some lesser used outposts like having the request come from HoD.

Even if it's not implemented in the way above it would still make a nice weekend event, having it done the same way as previous events from the Monastery (ie. the chefs looking for drops from enemies to make whatever so everyone got their minipig). That was a lot of fun getting a party together to try and get every item needed and enabling everyone in the district to get a nice reward.

I love it! Only problem with it....people will still call it "grinding". That term seems to be extremly over used these days and the "disgruntled minority" seems to use it to describe anything requiring hard work.

Great idea though.

Ooooh no. No, no, no. Not another one of those. If I had a penny for every time I've seen somebody say "well that can't be too hard to program", well, I wouldn't have troubles funding my programming projects. Believe me, what you are suggesting would be a lot more complicated than you think it would be. There are a lot of factors that would have to be plugged in. Programming isn't just a bunch of "Yes / No" flags that can be ticked at will.

That being covered, I sort of like this idea. Although it'd need toning up. Just finding a boss and killing it would be far too easy. At the very least, the kill should have to be made in Hard Mode. Boss Hunting in Normal Mode would be no harder than capping elite skills for the titles; yes, it's tedious, but it's not hard at all, and barely even a challenge for many players. Heck, with some fairly popular skill combinations, even Hard Mode is too easy, but that's another tale for another day.

In summation, I'd like to see this happen, as long as it was challenging and had reasonable rewards (no more of this crummy re-skinned trash, kthx Anet). I doubt it will happen, because the design team is pretty much buried in GW2, but hey... It's nice to dream.

Great idea, too bad Tyria has random boss spawns.
